A practice built around you

Hi, I'm Emma. I have been teaching Pilates for 20 years, qualifying as an instructor with Stott Pilates in 2005. I later spent five years working and training at a classical Pilates studio in Reading, and my ongoing training has equipped me to work with people with specific needs — including ante and post-natal clients, those recovering from injury, and people coping with chronic illness.

From 2015 to 2018 I taught the First Team and Under 21s at Reading Football Club — a valuable experience where I was able to use Pilates for both injury prevention and rehabilitation.

No matter what you already know — or don't know! — about Pilates, I'm here to help.

I just have to say how much I enjoy your style of teaching, and your energy, and the way that you talk us through every movement and remind us to breathe — you stay in contact with each and every one of us!

Health & lifestyle screening

Before your first session I ask all new clients to complete a short health screening form. This helps me understand your medical history, any areas of concern, and what you're hoping to achieve — so I can tailor your first session safely and effectively.

Why do I need to fill this in?

It helps me plan the safest and most effective session for you. Certain medical conditions or recent injuries may affect how we approach your practice.

Is it confidential?

Completely. Your information is used solely to inform your sessions and is never shared with third parties.

When should I complete it?

Please complete the form before booking your first session. It only takes about 5 minutes.

Common questions

What is Pilates?
Pilates is a form of exercise that focuses on breathing, core conditioning and quality of movement. It is a safe and highly effective way to stretch, strengthen and streamline your body without building bulk or stressing your joints. Pilates will help you to use your body fully — the exercises are a great complement to sport, recovery from injury and everyday life.
Who can take part?
Pilates is for anyone, whatever your age or level of fitness! From elite athletes to those with injuries or chronic illnesses — as well as people who just want to feel fitter — many men and women have discovered the benefits of Pilates.
What if I have an injury?
If you are attending an in-person lesson, I will take a full history so that I can teach you safely and effectively. Sometimes I will ask your physiotherapist, doctor or osteopath for more information or a treatment plan before you attend a lesson.
How will I feel?
Pilates engages the mind as well as the body. It will help improve concentration skills, co-ordination and strength. Pilates targets the deep postural muscles, building strength from the inside out, and can help prevent injury by rebalancing the body and bringing it into correct alignment.
What if I am pregnant?
Let me know and I will tailor the exercises to take you safely through your pregnancy. Pilates can help you to manage your pregnancy and birth both physically and mentally.
What should I wear?
Please wear something that is comfortable and relatively fitted. Grip socks or bare feet are best although you can wear warm socks at the start of the session.
What's your cancellation policy?
If you can't attend a session and are able to give 24 hours' notice of the cancellation, there is no charge. If you do not give 24 hours' notice you will be charged the full fee.
How do I pay?
Payment is due before or at the time of your session. I accept bank transfer (BACS), PayPal, and cash. Block bookings must be paid in full to secure the discount.
